The constraint
A society cannot negotiate with the damage it leaves behind.
Ecology sets a boundary around growth and planning. The point is to make limits visible before a crisis chooses for everyone.
Plain English
Water, energy, land, and carbon shape what an economy can safely promise. Public planning has to account for them.
A fair objection
Limits can be used to justify austerity or exclusion. This model has to show its evidence, share burdens fairly, and keep correction open.
